In Fall 2023, two other classmates and I were assigned to design and manufacture a product made of diverted material to be sold at a local market, along with our other classmates. Our profit at the market went back into our studios and workshops, helping us buy more machines, tools, and supplies. My teammates, Jessie and Sean, and I designed, produced, and sold 15 ReFold Totes. The totes are picnic blankets made of old moving blankets and leftover textiles from Cotopaxi that fold and snap into a tote bag with two large pockets. The only new piece bought for the ReFold Tote is the magnetic buckles that snap together.
